Dea. Donald Evans
Donald Evans was born February 10, 1947 to the late Ms. Mattie Lee Hassell Evans. He departed this life on May 31, 2019 at his home. He was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel.
After his service in the United States Army he moved to Lansing, Michigan where he worked for General Motors (Fisher Body) retiring after 32 years.
Donald was a faithful longtime member of the Tithe Missionary Baptist Church in Lansing, Michigan. He was part of the committee in search of a new Pastor after the death of Pastor Hawkins to the installation of Pastor Ben Wade. He was a Deacon, on the Trustee Board, Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent. After moving back to Evergreen he became an active member of New Western Baptist Church serving as a Deacon.
Donald is affectionately known for being a praying man. He loved being around and talking with his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and was well known for uplifting spirits.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted and caring wife of 53 years, Esther Lark Evans; one brother, David (Alicia) of Lansing, Michigan; five sisters, Bobbie (Elijah) McIntosh of Pinola, Mississippi, Nellie Rankins, Cynthia Rankins and Phyllis Rankins, all of Montgomery, Alabama and Gladys (Steve) of North Carolina; two special cousins, Carol Jenkins and Joyce McNeil and a host of nieces, nephews, other cousins and many, many friends.
