Mr. Allen Carter, Sr.
Allen Carter, Sr. was born May 15, 1943 to the late Willie and Estelle Carter in Flomaton, Ala. He was born second to his twin sister and was the seventh of fourteen children. He attended Pollard Junior High School.
On Sunday, August 24, 2014, Allen Carter, Sr. departed this life. Allen Carter, Sr. resided in Atlanta, Georgia for the past 24 years. He was a member of Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia where he served faithfully and was devoted to singing with the Brotherhood Male Chorus.
Allen retired from Cincinnati Milacron, (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Southland Casket Company, (Atlanta, Georgia).
Allen loved to sing and has sung with various male choruses and choir groups beginning with the Sensational Travelers, Mello Aires, and New Friendship Baptist Church Mass Choir. Allen also sang background for Walter Hawkins, James Cleveland, and various other professional gospel artists.
Allen Carter, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory a wife of 13 years: Loistine Carter; three children: Denise Dixon, Allen Carter, Jr. (Aminata), Margretta Drummond (John); two step-children: Fredrick (Michelle) Flemister and Sequeia Strickland; eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild, seven brothers and sisters: Aubrey Lee Dees, George Dees (Doris), Allene Carter, Robert Carter (Inez), Louella Carter, Glynda Carter-Benn (Theries), Joe Carter (Judy), a host of nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Kenny Smith.
