Mr. James Gross
Mr. James Gross, son of Ola and Elizabeth Harris Gross was born July 7, 1931 in Castleberry, Alabama.
He attended school in Conecuh County, Alabama. James joined Sparta Hill Church at an early age and also attended services at New Hope. While living in Massachusetts, he was a member in good standing of the Dorchester Immanuel Church of the Nazarene in Boston and helped build their current church.
James served in the United States Army in the 1950’s. He worked as a carpenter in the high-rise construction industry. He was a Foreman during the building of many of the skyscrapers in New England, the Prudential and John Hancock Towers, to name a few. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 33 in Massachusetts.
James enjoyed fishing, a good laugh, telling stories, and spending time with family and friends. He loved his kids, family, friends, and most especially that wife of his, Eloise. James and Eloise had been married for close to sixty years.
James went to be with the Lord on May 12, 2017. James was preceded in death by his mother and father, Elizabeth Harris Gross and Ola Gross; his brothers: Henry Gross, Joseph Gross, and Cecil Gross; and his sisters: Angeline Graphenreed, Quincy Carter, Hattie Scott-Barton, Louise "Easy" Chase, Murl Perry and Leola Logan.
He is survived by his wife Eloise Gross; his sisters, Lillie Ruth Brown and Mattie Johnson; his son, James Gross; and his daughters: Veronica Gross and Vonda Gross; grandson, Matthew James Cole; and numerous other relatives and friends.
