Mr. Keith D. Gantt, Sr.
Keith Darnell Gantt, Sr. was born in Conecuh County on September 29, 1957 to the late Samuel T. Gantt, Sr. and Mattie McCants Gantt. He departed this earthly life on September 28, 2016 at Providence Hospital, Mobile AL. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sonja Gantt Grace and his brother, Kim Gantt.
At an early age, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and united with Belleville Missionary Baptist Church where he was ordained a Diaconate. Keith shared a love for people and possessed a heart of gold. He wholeheartedly embraced God’s word by his display of agape love to everyone he encountered. He had an even deeper passion for livestock; he bred, raised and cared for his horses, hogs, and cows until his death.
Keith Sr. attended Southern Normal High school, Brewton AL. Upon graduating he enrolled into Reid State Technical College receiving a technical degree in Brick Masonry. Shortly after graduating from Reid State Technical College he was hired by CSX Railroad. Through hard work and dedication he served 35 wonderful years with CSX until he medically retired.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories a caring and devoted wife of 17 years, Connie Roach Gantt; four children: Keith Jr. (ThSheyla) Gantt of Fort Lee, VA, Chesela Gantt of Brewton, AL, Fantasy Poindexter of Brewton, AL, and Aaron Gantt of Evergreen, AL; one step-daughter: Latasha Roach of Evergreen, AL; three grandchildren: Rylei Gantt, Reagan Gantt and Rhyanne Gantt; a mother, Mattie Gantt; six siblings: Yolandra Gantt, Tren (Glenda) Gantt, Kearnest (Patricia) Gantt, all of Brewton, AL, and Gheta (Ralph) Grace of Evergreen, AL, Roderick (Deborah) Gantt of Prattville, AL, and Anita Gantt of Pensacola, FL; one aunt-in-law: Clarice Faulk; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; one godchild, NeMeeka Stallworth; four devoted friends: Alonzo Martin, Charles Quate, Melvin Dees and Valerie Madison, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
To The Gantt Family,
Keith was a kind and caring person. He had a huge heart and a giving spirit. He enjoyed attending the Weekly Family Dinners and praising his Mother's Soulful Vegetables. His final gift of love was that of an organ donor. His love for people and giving will be remember
by all of us.
