Mr. Robert L. Simpson, Sr.
Mr. Robert Lewis Simpson, Sr., better known as “T-Bone” was born in Repton, Alabama on May 17, 1949 to the late Mr. Jasper and Cleo Simpson. He departed this life on January 5, 2020 at Evergreen Medical Center in Evergreen, Alabama.
Robert attended Nichburg Jr. High School. After Jr. High School, he moved to California and then to New York for several years. While in New York, he worked several jobs in order to support himself and his siblings. Robert then returned to Alabama to continue employment as a truck driver to support his family. He had a love for driving 18 wheelers and logging. His passions included working in the woods, planting tremendous gardens, going to the race track, watching Alabama football games and Old Western TV shows, playing Word Cookies on his Ipad, playing around with his many John Deere toys and most importantly, spending time with his family and friends. Robert was a loving kind-hearted person who would help anyone that needed him. He had a warm spirit and loved to joke and thrived on making others laugh. Robert had a way of uplifting others when they were down. His sense of humor and dedication to his family will truly be missed.
At an early age he joined Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church. He was a dedicated member where he served on the Trustee Board. Robert loved his church family and was a faithful member until his health began to fail. Even at times when he wasn’t feeling his very best, he pushed himself to attend church services as often as he could.
Robert was truly a family man. He united in Holy Matrimony to Gloria Jean Murphy on August 18, 1979. To this union four children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Cleo Simpson, one brother, Levon Simpson, one sister, Sandra Simpson and a devoted father-in-law, Mr. John Murphy.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted wife of 40 years, Gloria Simpson; three sons: Jerome Harrod (Lea) of Opp, Alabama, John Murphy II (Diane) of Greenville, Alabama and Robert Lewis Simpson Jr., of Fairnelson, Alabama; three daughters: Brandy Alexander (Tony) of Pensacola, Florida, Renita Dailey (Labarron) of Navarre Beach, Florida, and Shakita Simpson of Evergreen, Alabama; sixteen grandchildren: John III, Jayvian, Malaysia, Rodarian, Trinity, Robert III, A’Marianna, LaBarron Jr., Nehemiah, La’Zariyah, Aayan, Brandon, Micah, Jeremy, Jalen, and Eli; three brothers: Issac and Ray Charles of Repton, Alabama and Richard (Diane) of Stone Mountain, Georgia; six sisters: Frances, Gerri, Lizzie Mae, Louise, Rose (Thomas), all of Repton, Alabama and Bennie Mae (Elder Joe Cater) of Trinity, Alabama; a devoted mother-in-law, Shirley Murphy of Evergreen; Alabama, a devoted and loving nephew, Fredrick “Moon” (Kimberly); and nieces: Yolanda (Johnnie) and Brianna Givens; dedicated sister-in-laws who loved him dearly: Daisy, Ruby, Johnnie, Margaret, and Diane; brother-in-laws: Elder Joe Cater and Thomas Kyles.
