Mr. Sandy McMillian
Sandy McMillian, a surrendered spirit, was born in Evergreen, Alabama on December 21, 1949 to the late John “Bud” McMillian and Mary Hurd McMillian.
Sandy, a soft spoken mild mannered man, was easy to know and even easier to love. As a young boy, Sandy became a member of the First Baptist Church in Evergreen, AL.
Sandy grew up in Evergreen where he attended school and graduated from Marshall High School in 1969. He was an outstanding football and basketball player; he gave his best when it came to sports.
Later in life Sandy moved to Detroit, Michigan where he worked for several years before moving back to Evergreen, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Hurd; his father, John “Bud” and his sister, Catherine “Kitty” Johnson.
Sandy departed his life on February 5, 2019 at Evergreen Medical Center in Evergreen, Alabama. He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted son, Steven Durks of Detroit, Michigan; one devoted daughter, Precious Woodfork of Detroit, Michigan; five brothers, John (Beatrice) McMillian, Frank (Gail) McMillian, both of Detroit, Michigan, Ellis (Barbara) McMillian of Clanton, Alabama, and Andrew McMillian of Evergreen, Alabama; three sisters, Ethel Oliver of Detroit, Michigan, Marilyn McMillian Pleasant and Mildred Gross, both of Evergreen, Alabama and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Perhaps you sent a lovely card, Or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you sent a funeral spray, If so, we saw it there. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, As any friend could say. Perhaps you were not there at all, Just thought of us that day. Whatever you did to console our hearts,
