Mrs. Mary E. Spears
Mary Emma Allen Spears was born November 18, 1933 to the late Marvin “Jack” Godbolt and Essie Allen. On Tuesday, February 16, 2021 the Lord called Mary Emma home.
She joined church at an early age at Little Brooklyn Baptist Church. She attended school at Boykin High School. In 1957, she married her late husband, Deacon Crawford Spears.
Later, she would transfer her membership to Greater Mt. Calvary Church where she was a faithful member.
She enjoyed serving in various positions in the church. She was a member of the Senior Choir serving a term as president. She served as a Deaconess. She also loved to read poems during church programs.
She worked at Judy Bond for over 30 years until her retirement. Mary Emma was an avid reader. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and cooking in her spare time.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Holmes Jerome Allen and siblings: Lillie B., Marvin, Nathaniel, Hannah, Donald (Beverly), James, Jennifer Nell, Elouise, Annie Ruth and Carolyn.
Mary Emma leaves to mourn and cherish her memories, one loving and devoted daughter, Mary Janice Gross (Alphonso) of Brewton, AL; her loving grandchildren, Charles Roache (Tameria), Eric Elliott (Charity), Terris LaShea Williams (Ronald), Kriste Allen and Alphonso Gross; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary G. Nearor of Brewton, AL and Essie Bell Robinson of Pensacola, FL; one brother, Roshell Allen (Patricia) of Mansfield, OH; one sister-in-law, Annette Jenkins of Detroit, MI; one brother-in-law, Ed Lee Elliott of Brewton, AL; several god-sons “her boys”; Marcus, Dewayne and Kendrick Floyd, William Brazile, Roosevelt and Matthew Jenkins; special nephews, Chester Hart Nelson, Ocious Samuel and Homer Roc Herbert; a loving niece, friend and caregiver, Marie Fantroy and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family.
