Ms. Denise L. McCorvey
Denise Lorraine McCorvey was born to the late Ezzie and Fred Douglas Royster on September 23, 1956 in Conecuh County. She was received into Heaven on Monday, January 28, 2019. She was preceded in death by brother, Fred Royster Jr.; sister, Brenda Roberson; and nephews: Darryl Rogers Sr. and Adolph Briggs Jr.
She was educated in the Conecuh County Public School System.
She graduated Alumni of Alabama A & M University in Huntsville, Alabama. She spent the many years of her career as a beloved teacher in the Public School System of Alabama. She was a wonderful educator and helped many students. She loved teaching and mentoring children, as an educator, and as a retired teacher.
She joined Pleasant Grove A.M.E. Zion Methodist Church at an early age, and later became a faithful member of Second Marietta Missionary Baptist Church.
She was the companion to Wesley Herbert. She was a dedicated, loving mother, grandmother, god-mother, aunt, and friend.
She loved to tend her garden and spend quality time with family members. She also fed anyone that came along, and never knew a stranger.
She leaves to cherish her many memories, her only son, David (Samantha) McCorvey Jr. of Evergreen, AL; grandchildren: Amarri Rudolph, Sylias Rudolph, and JaShannon McCorvey, all of Evergreen, AL; sisters: Geraldine Royster Mims of Evergreen, AL and Shirley (Adolph Sr.) Briggs of Mansfield, OH; niece, Brandi Roberson of Birmingham, AL; nephews: James (Jackie) Royster of Evergreen, AL and Jason Briggs of Mansfield, OH; numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews; aunt, Lillie Mae Boykins of Evergreen, AL; god-daughter and god-granddaughter, Johnetta and Ayana Dees; god-daughter, Merline Riley, her Angel, Aunnie Bailey; godson, Curtis Hall; special friends: Liz Davis, Narvel Braswell Glover, Lillie Fluker, and Odessa Stallworth; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to thank each of you for the prayers, acts of kindness, and all expressions of sympathy shown during the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, companion, and friend. We ask that God blesses each of you. The kindness you all have shown will never be forgotten.
