Ms. Dorothy M. Stallworth
Sister Dorothy Mae Stallworth was the fifth child born to the late Matthew and Soloney Stallworth. She was born on March 26, 1939, in Conecuh County. Early on the morning of May 4, 2015 at 1:55 a.m. God told her to come on my child I will give you eternal life. She happily took his hand and followed him into eternity. She departed from this life at Baptist South Medical Center in Montgomery, AL.
Dorothy was educated in the Conecuh County school system.
Later in life, Sister D worked for the Conecuh County Board of Education from 1977 to 2014. She worked as a substitute teacher, ISS aide, and as an instructional aide in Conecuh County Schools. During her 36 years working in the system, she touched the lives of many children and made a positive impact in their life.
As a young girl, she accepted Christ and joined A.M.E. Mt. Zion Methodist Church. There she served as a Sunday School teacher and later became a deaconess. Later in life, she moved her membership to Centennial #1 Baptist Church where she remained until her death.
Sister Dorothy is preceded in death by a son, Jessie Alvin Stallworth; three sisters: Bennie Lee Tayborn, Daisy Lone Rankins, and Alberta Stallworth.
She leaves to cherish her undying love forever to her six children: Brenda Stallworth, Clarence Stallworth, Albert (Miriam) Stallworth, Arnita Holder, and Travis Stallworth all of Evergreen, AL; Efrem Stallworth (Geraldine) Stallworth of Montgomery, AL; A special cousin: Brenda (Charles) Spencer of Century, FL.; Two sisters: Carrie Lee Cooke; Columbus, South Caroline, Emma Jean Brantley; Pensacola, Florida; Two brothers: Matthew Stallworth, Jr.; Evergreen, AL and John D. Stallworth; Nashville, Tennessee; Twenty-three grandchildren, ten great-grands, and four God grandchildren: Trinity Jones, Maleyshia White, Jaylen Jones, Sharday Gray; One special nephew: Darryl Stallworth; Long Island, New York; Six Godchildren: Inger Ferguson, Destry Williams, Philander Rogers, Gifford Rogers, Thomas Rogers, and Jon’Nita Johnson; A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
