Ms. Dorothy Tucker Middleton
Mrs. Dorothy Tucker-Middleton, born on March 21, 1926, to the union of the late James and Shulah Tucker of Conecuh County, departed this life on April 26, 2013. Mrs. Dorothy accepted the Lord into her life at a very young age as she had always been one to reflect upon God and His Grace. She grew up in Burnt Corn, Alabama, married Earvin Hamilton Middleton at the age of 17, and enjoyed 70 years of a loving marriage together. In marriage, Dorothy and Earvin bore 15 children, raising 12. Although many accolades can be attributed to Dorothy in her life, none is more notable than the love, care and devotion she gave to her God, her husband, her children and grandchildren, her neighbors, her friends and her community.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several of her siblings: Ruby, Liam, Eula Pearl, Mabel, Daisy, Bobbie, John, and James Tucker, as well as three of her children: Willie James, Frank Allen, and Calvin Middleton. Dorothy is a life-long member of Centennial No.1 Baptist Church.
In addition to her loving husband, she leaves to mourn nine surviving children: Will E. of Detroit, MI; Earvin Jr. of Evergreen, AL; John “Hub” (Late Patricia Middleton) of Evergreen, AL; Betty Spears (Leroy) of Moss Point, MS; Diane Dottery (Late Matthew Dottery) of Gautier, MS; Debra Montgomery (Late Dennis Montgomery) of Evergreen, AL; Patricia Bates (Johnny) of Evergreen, AL; Gwendolyn Osman (Khalil) of Hoover via Beirut, Lebanon, and Frederick Middleton of Evergreen, AL; two surviving siblings, Attie Bee Petersen of Evergreen, AL and JV Tucker of Georgia; 24 grandchildren, and a host of great grand’s, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family would also like to include Martha Booker, Janell Riley, Mary Riley-Gross, and Melvin “Blue” Pitts for their special care extended to Dorothy during the last days of her journey, and the countless others who expressed care and concern for her throughout her life.
The Middleton Family Members wish to express their gratitude and appreciation for all the countless efforts many have made to ease our solace during this difficult time. Thanks for the food, drinks, cards, flowers, and mostly the prayers. God Bless!
