Ms. Evelyn Sanders
Evelyn “Lean” Sanders was born on May 27, 1931 in Owassa, Alabama to the late Lula Robbins and J. D. Dryer. Evelyn transitioned from her earthly home on November 25, 2020 at D. W. McMillian Hospital in Brewton, Alabama. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters: Laura Robbins, Hattie Randall; brother, Henry Sanders; grandson, Vernon “Ran” Sanders; two step-brothers: Willie James Dryer, Skibo Dryer; and nephew, Bishop Frank Stallworth.
Evelyn was a devoted member of Second Marietta Baptist Church in Castleberry, Alabama.
Evelyn was known for her good cooking and her beautiful flowers. She has touched so many lives and was loved by family and friends.
Evelyn is survived by her eleven wonderful children: Maxine Sanders, Castleberry, AL, Willie R. Sanders (Sonya) Pensacola, FL, Pearlean Grace (Wiley) Castleberry, AL, Diane Boykin (Earnest) Evergreen, AL, Carl Sanders (Verna Dean) Castleberry, AL, Ronnie Sanders (Shon) Castleberry, AL, Sheila Travis (Ronnie) Columbia, SC, Lesa Sanders, Brewton, AL, Patrice Washington (Roderic) Brewton, AL, Steven Sanders, Castleberry, AL, Monica Sanders, Castleberry, AL; twenty grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; one sister, Lucille Dailey, Evergreen, AL; five devoted nieces: Dorothy Lewis, Helen Williams, Mamie J. Nelson, Carolyn Neufield, Betty Roberts; one aunt, Mamie V. Stallworth, Evergreen, AL; devoted friends: Emmie Thomas, Dianna McCarn, Darlene (Donnell) Hill (like a daughter), Jerry Godwin, Carolyn Sheppard, Mary Alice McQueen, Janice Downing; and other relatives and friends.
