Ms. Jeanette Lovelace Edwards
Early Sunday morning, January 10, 2016 at 7:00 a.m. God was looking for a special flower. He called Jeanette Lovelace Edwards and carried her Home with Him.
Her Book of Life was open on August 12, 1925; born the 6th child to the late and loving parents Hiram and Elizabeth Lovelace. As a young girl she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior; she joined the Second Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Jeanette was a graduate of Southern Normal School, class of 1942. She furthered her education at Stillman College; where she graduated.
She met and married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Edwards on August 18, 1951. They moved to Detroit in 1953 where she united with the St. Phillips Baptist Church. There she was loved, respected and referred to as “Mother Edwards”. She worked for 35 years for the state of Michigan before retirement.
Surviving her departure with cherished memories are her son, Mark Edwards (Phyllis) of Detroit, Michigan; three grandchildren, Cherese Jeanette Edwards (Darryl Vesey), Anthony Edwards and Amanda Edwards, all of Detroit Michigan; three great grandchildren, Dyquann Williamson, Markese Vesey and Markell Vesey; one sister, Millie (Charlie) Harris of Philadelphia, PA; one brother, H. Benny Lovelace of Detroit, MI and a host of special nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
