Ms. Mamie Lou Evans
Mamie Lou McIntyre Evans was born March 20, 1919 in Conecuh county Alabama to the late Willis and Abella Presley McIntyre. She was preceded in death by her husband, eight siblings, two great grandsons and two great grand-daughters.
She joined Second Mount Zion Baptist Church at an early age. There she was a very active member. In 1946, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Eddie Lee Evans. To this union five children were born.
In 1949, she joined Milledgeville AME Zion Church. She was a faithful member until her health failed. She served as a senior choir member, class leader, Missionary, Deaconess, and was elected Fruit Queen of the South Alabama Conference.
“Muh” loved people. She loved to cook and was famous for her teacakes and chicken and dumplings.
God called Sister Evans from labor to reward on June 23, 2016 with her family and friends by her side.
A devoted mother who leaves to cherish her memories four daughters, Christine Bumpers of Detroit, MI, Eddie Thelma Evans of Buffalo, NY, Linda McMillian and Sheila Evans, both of Evergreen, AL; one son, Earl Evans of Evergreen, AL; a step-son, Freddie (Margaret) Evans of Brooklyn, NY; fourteen grandchildren, Darlene, Pam, Kimberly, Tabitha, John, Eddie, Kenneth, Frazier, Isaac III, Edward, Shanika and Tracy; she raised two grandchildren, Angela Thomas of Pensacola, FL and Pierre Evans of Evergreen, AL; twenty-one great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; two god-daughters and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
