Ms. Margaret E. Jones
Mother Margaret Elizabeth Jones entered into the arms of the Lord on August 5, 2017. Margaret was born to the late Chip and Bertha Harris on December 28, 1938. She was the thirteenth child of sixteen children. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Eugene, Naomi, Eula Mae, James, Earnestine, Earnest, Ethel Mae, Bertha Lee, Greely, Willie James, Lonza and Frank.
Margaret was educated in the Nichburg School System. She was employed with D.W. McMillan Hospital for over twenty years before becoming a homemaker.
Margaret accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Brewton Church of God In Christ where she was the Superintendent of Sunday school for over 30 years and served as a Church Mother.
Margaret was united in holy matrimony to Charlie Leroy Jones on November 3, 1956. To this union ten children were born; one preceding her in death, Murtis O’Neal Jones.
Margaret leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of sixty years, Charlie; four sons, Charlie “Gene” Jr. of Brewton, AL, Curtis (Mary) Jones of Brewton, AL, Clarence (Annie) Jones of Burnt Corn, AL and Kenneth (Robin) Jones of Knoxville, TN; five daughters, Sheila Kiser of Killeen, TX, Janice (Willie) Chatman of Anniston, AL, Kimberly (Vernon) Harris of Monroe, GA, Connie (Peter) Darrington of Brewton, AL and devoted daughter and caregiver, Susan Jones of Brewton, AL; two sisters, Mazzie Rowland and Addie Brown, both of California and one brother, Augusta Harris of California. She also leaves twenty-five grandchildren; forty great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and god children, Tammy Nolan and Paul (Angie) Smith. Margaret leaves behind beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends; two special devoted friends, Minnie Ruth Smith and Maggie McMillan.
Margaret will be missed by many, especially for her tastefully delicious cakes and her love for fishing.
