Ms. Mattie B. Clark
Mattie Belle Johnson “Ms. Matt” was born in Mixonville, AL to the late Onezer Johnson and Mary Pennington on November 24, 1945.
Mattie was united with Springhill Baptist Church in her youth. Later, she joined Second Baptist Church. She had a true love for the church and made sure that her children had an established Christian background.
Soon after being of age, she moved up north to Galesburg, Illinois. She was united in marriage to David Clark on November 24, 1962. She later made her final home in Georgiana, AL.
She was preceded in death by her Mother, Mary Ross, Fathers Onezar Johnson and Roman Ross; Siblings: Pauline Ross, Theodore Ross, Lynn Johnson and Floyd Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memories three devoted children who cherished her very much: Debra Clark of Mobile, AL; Gail Carter of Pensacola, FL; and Borope Clark of Buffalo, NY; three loving grandsons: Steven Clark of Auburn, AL; Jonah Carter of Pensacola, FL and Jalin Carter of Buffalo, NY; nine sisters and four brothers: Joyce (Johnny) Crumpton of Mobile, AL; Jeron Ross of Georgiana, AL; Nathaniel (Teresa) Ross of Youngstown, OH; Brenda (Kenneth) Peterson of Georgiana, AL; Sanquette Ross of Detroit, MI; Herston Ross and Debbie Taylor of Denver, CO; Elaine Harkness of Georgiana, AL; Elsie (Donnie) Townsend of San Antonio, TX; Sylvia Styles of Miami, FL; Paul Johnson of Atlanta, GA; Lillian Gale Johnson of Miami, FL; and Carolyn Johnson of Hollywood, FL; one great Aunt: Jerria Pennington of Georgiana, AL; a special cousin: Ruby Pennington Peterson; a special friend, Charles Thomas of Greenville, AL; and a host of nieces , nephews, cousins and other friends.
The family of the late Mattie Clark would like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude for your prayers, visits, phone calls, cards and other expressions of love and kindness shown during our time of sorrow. We could not have made it to this point without your support. We cannot pay you for all you have done, but we do have a WORD of thanks.
