Ms. Pearl Jordan Stallworth
Mrs. Pearl Mae Jordan Stallworth was affectionately called “PJ, Mrs. PJ, or Mrs. Stallworth” by family, friends, co-workers, and students, but to her husband and sons she was “mama and mom.”
Mrs. PJ Stallworth was the fifth child born December 28, 1956 in McIntosh, Alabama to Elmore Sr. and Lillie V. Jordan who both preceded her in death; also preceded in death was her oldest sister, Peggy Lee Thrash, God’s pronouncement and sunset came on August 13, 2014 at South East Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama.
PJ met the love of her life, Charles Edward Stallworth, in 1981and between their union two sons came: Charles Entrée Stallworth and Jordan (Celsa) Edward Stallworth. She often professed her love and commitment to her husband and sons. She was the Queen and they were her three Kings. And then her life increased when the daughter she never had, Celsa, came into her life but when her grandbaby, Isabella, arrived she was complete and was happier than any mother/grandmother could be. What more could a wife, mother, and grandmother ask for than to love by her “Fab-Five?!” Nonetheless, she was a firm believer in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who was the head of her life.
PJ joined Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church and started her metamorphosis as a dedicated church member for over 24 years first under Pastor Dr. G. Jackson and secondly to the current pastor – Pastor Willie F. Morris. She served as assistant Sunday School teacher and later as head teacher, Financial Secretary for 20 years, Deaconess, Chairman of the Budget Committee, Courtesy Committee, Choir, Food Committee, Missionary Society, Trustee Board, Youth Advisor, Secretary for the Home Burial Society, and with the Bus Ministry. As you can see, PJ was dedicated to Little Zion and her love for her church family was infinite and unwavering.
PJ also served the community through her employment with the City of Evergreen as the first black bookkeeper and longest serving bookkeeper (21+ yrs.) in the city’s 141 year history. She also served under three mayors (Mayors Lomax Cassidy, Larry Fluker, and Pete Wolf III), President of the Chamber of Commerce, and Relay for Life. Her vivacity was reflected at her job with a continuous smile and dedication second to none.
To anyone that knew PJ they knew her for so many things and if she was not talking about God, her husband Charles, Trey & Jordan, her daughter (Celsa), grandbaby (Isabella), her church, her family, or the wisdom and warm words of advice she gave to so many, then Mrs. PJ wasn’t talking about anything else! She was a virtuous woman who wore a natural afro, smiled continuously, had impeccable handwriting/calligraphy, and dressed to kill, and could wear and walk in high heels like none other! PJ “Lived, Laughed, and Loved!” And her family can definitely remember with her games of softball as short-stop and downhome cooking – especially her red velvet cakes.
She also leaves to cherish her memories: six brothers, Elmore Jr. (Elnora), Larry (Miranda), Kenneth, Benny (Lula), Frank-Michael (Cynthia) and James Jordan; three sisters, Frankie-Mae Whitcher, Luecinda Jordan-Cowan, and Daphne Lynn Jordan. From the Stallworth side she leaves: three brothers-in-law, Jesse (Thelma), Johnny, and John Albert; two sisters-in-law, Barbara and Brenda; her adopted mother and dear friend (Sister Cora Stallworth); two special nieces (Trina Jordan and Anjeleka Wheeler), a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, extended family, Little Zion Church family, steadfast neighbors, and a multitude of friends.
The Stallworth and Jordan Families wishes to express their deepest, sincerest appreciation for your prayers, calls, visits, cards, flowers and other continual acts of kindness, love, and sympathy during the hours of bereavement which helped to cultivate and uplift our spirits. We would like to extend a special thanks to the Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church and its pastor, Pastor Willie F. Morris for being supportive spiritual family to PJ Stallworth. Know that life must continue on for all of us and this day will come but “joy” comes in the morning. May the love of God continue to be with each of you is our prayer. God bless each of you!
