Ms. Rosa Mae Benjamin
Sister Rosa Mae Benjamin was born on October 23, 1927 to the late Deacon Richard and Eunice Poindexter of the Mason Community. On January 11, 2017 after a brief illness she quietly ascended home, to be with her Lord and Savior. Though we may weep for a while, let us all rejoice and tank our Heavenly Father for the life that she lived among us and for taking her to the land of no more pain and suffering; the land promised to the faithful.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hersol Benjamin; children, Walter D. Poindexter and Zelma Culliver and brother, Everette Poindexter.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the First Marietta Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her death. She was educated in the Escambia County School System.
She was employed for twenty-two years before retirement in 1998 with the Escambia County Board of Education. She worked as a bus driver and a cafeteria worker touching the lives of many youth in the surrounding communities.
She leaves to cherish her love and memories six grandchildren: Walter (Lisa), Chrissey (Clifton), Dennis, Willie Jr., Shelia and Dewayne (Diane); nine great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Annie P. Poindexter; one sister-in-law, Marie Poindexter and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
The family of the late Sister Rosa Mae Benjamin would like to express their deepest and most sincere appreciation to their many friends and church families for your love and all acts of kindness shown during their time of need. Many thanks are extended to West Gate (Unit A) Staff, Comfort Care Hospice, Dr. Joe Terrell and a very special thanks to Mrs. Darly Curry. It is our sincere prayer that God continue to bless each of you.
