Ms. Shelly J. George Booker
Shelly Jean George was bon on December 9, 1946 in Butler County, AL to John D. George and the late Irene George.
Shelly and her eight siblings were reared in a Christian environment. She attended public school in Conecuh County. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the Late Johnny Melvin Booker and was blessed with eleven children.
She was a strict and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She truly loved all of her children, family, and friends. She also reared her children in a Christian environment (the Bible in one hand and a switch in the other hand). She was a very hard worker and a dedicated employee. She worked in the local area as a Home Health Aide until her health began to fail.
She was a faithful and dedicated member of the House of God, Keith Dominion Skinnerton Band where she worked diligently doing “whatever she could find her hand to do”; Shelly enjoyed her yearly gardening and sharing her harvest with community, family, and friends.
Shelly was preceded in death by her sister, Mary McIntosh, her husband, Johnny Booker, and mother, Irene George.
God called his newest Angel to “Rest in the Bosom of Jesus Christ” while under the watchful eye of God on November 11, 2013 at the Evergreen Medical Center.
She leaves to cherish her memories and to carry on her “legacy of Love”: her eleven children, Angela (Ezekiel) King, Johnnie (Danny) Perry, Malassia Booker and Shawnee Booker, all of Evergreen, AL, Sammy (Jacqueline) Booker of Peterman, AL, Madie (Michael) Love of Prattville, AL, Leonard (Tonya) Booker of Indianapolis, IN, Tammie (Andre’) Robinson of Rochester, NY, Tracy (Christopher) Todd and Sherri (Derrick) Johnson of Phenix City, AL and John Wesley of Wesley Chapel, FL; father, John David George; four sisters, Ms. Dora Watts, Mrs. Katherine (John) Adaway, Essie George and Mrs. Reta (Thomas) Miles; three brothers, James (Evelyn) George, Frank (Mattie) George and McArthur (Bobbie Jean) George; three sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law; and thirty grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She also leaves three adopted grandchildren, Shamirah and Tamirah Robinson and Elonnie Baines; a longtime devoted church friend, Gen. Elder Archie McDougald; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
