Ms. Sophia Lynell Dixon
Sophia Lynell Dixon (affectionately known as “TT, Big Fat, Nell”) was the daughter of Roosevelt Dixon Sr. and Barbara A. Dixon. She was born on March 27, 1976 in Brewton, Alabama. She resided in Flomaton, Alabama until the Lord called her Home on March 21, 2014 at 1:15 a.m. at an out-of-town hospital.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roosevelt Dixon Sr.; three aunts, Annie M. Carter, Lillie McCorey and Vinee’y Dees and three uncles, William Dixon, Bernard Dixon Sr. and Jimmy Dixon Sr.
She graduated from Flomaton High School. She was number eight in her Senior Class. She was a member of the National Junior/Senior Beta Club, a Southern Pine Representative and a recipient of the Sara Neal Scholarship.
She had God sent values, visions, and goals. She did not allow her illnesses or anything else stop her from accomplishing the things she wanted to do. She continued her education and received an AS Degree from Jefferson Davis Community College, a RMA License from American Medical Technologists, a degree from Stratford Institute as a Pharmacy Recipient, and a job offer from Southern University as Director of the Medical Assistant Program and later received her license from the Medical State Board of Pharmacy.
She enjoyed going to church, singing, fishing, reading, traveling, cooking, talking, and spending time with her family. She worked diligently in the church. She inspired the youth group, Young and Focused. She was also the coordinator of their many fundraisers, field trips, etc. She was an inspiration to the youth group; always reminding them that no matter what you go through, God is with you all the time.
She leaves her memories to be cherished by a strong, devoted, loving, and faithful mother, Barbara Dixon of Flomaton, AL; a loving, strong, and devoted sister, Winell Dixon of Flomaton, AL and a loving, devoted friend and a “RN” brother, Roosevelt Dixon Jr. “Spooky Man” of Flomaton, AL. She also leaves behind a dependable, caring, and trustworthy uncle, Elbert Dixon Sr.; three aunts, Inez Blair of Century, FL, Elanor (Mike McGill) of Flomaton, AL and Minnie Golston of Evergreen, AL; special aunts, Callie Newsom of Flomaton, AL, Lucille Taylor of San Diego, CA, Barbara J. Dixon of Century, FL, Sylvia Bates of St. Petersburg, FL, Barbara Helen Etheridge of Jacksonville, FL and Estelle Etheridge of Brewton, AL; two nieces that were like daughters to her, Zynetria Jarelle Hooks of Flomaton, AL and Jasmine Cherelle Kyles of Pensacola, FL; a dedicated nephew, Derek Pullum of Bay Minette, AL; two other nephews, Antonio Lett and Roosevelt Dixon III; a special great nephew, Elijah Powell ; three god-brothers, Bernard Dixon Jr., JaCorey Benjamin, and Xavier Brooks; a god-sister, two adopted sisters, and an adopted brother, MaKayla Harris, Leslie Jones, Linda Jefferson, and Melvin Archie. She also leaves behind two caring, dependable friends, Denise Polk and Carl Smith Jr.; three favorite, Jayln Woods, Jada Woods, and JaKobe Brazil; favorite cousins, WyKesha Franklin, Tijuana Dixon, Maurice Dixon, Almetra Holmes, and John Thomas Jr.; special uncles, Mike McGill, Huston Etheridge, Marshall, John Lee, and Menson Etheridge; special neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Baldwin; other important people in her life, David Chandler, Cleveland and Joyce Lamar, Nathaniel Trawick, Robert Earl Carter, Elder Russell Fountain & Carol Fountain, Reverend Sidney Grant, Reverend Monroe Tucker, Jackie Etheridge, Lavon Sanders, Willie Sanders, Angie Sanders, Debra Ann Curry, Reverend Phifer and Mrs. Phifer, Reverend Hawkins and Mrs. Hawkins, James Riley and a host of relatives, Zelma Pugh, Kesla Phifer, Tonja Sims, Rita and Reggie Robinson, Tina Hicks, and other friends. If there is anyone we have left out, please take into consideration that we did not forget you in our hearts.
We, the family of Lynell Dixon, wish to say words cannot express how much we appreciate the acts of kindness shown to us during this time of sorrow. No matter what part you played, we thank you.
