SSG Marlon L. Reid
Marlon Lewis Reid was born March 1, 1976 in Brewton, Alabama to Elizabeth Jackson and the late Lewis S. Jackson. Along with his father, his oldest brother, Martin Reid, also preceded him in death.
Marlon was a T.R. Miller High School graduate fashioned as a basketball team player at Miller and Jeff Davis Junior College of Brewton, Alabama before joining the Miles College team in Birmingham, Alabama. Thereafter he decided to serve his country by joining the U.S. Army and remained on active duty serving 20 years before his passing.
He had a remarkable love for family, friends and fellow soldiers. He will be sadly missed by all which include his loving wife, Cherlyn Dunn Reid and daughter, Jasmin Frink, both of Winter Haven, FL; a beloved mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Jackson; siblings, Mia Reid May (Randy), Marquetta Reid, Marcus Reid (Shay), Merrell Reid and Melody Bradley, all of Brewton, AL; mother-in-law, Ms. Irene Toney; two sisters-in-law, Regina Moran (Edwin) of Winter Haven, FL and Nikki Shedrick (Charles) of Washington DC and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
The family of SSG Marlon L. Reid extends sincere thanks to each of you for the many acts of loving kindness shown to us during our bereavement. Your thoughtfulness is deeply appreciated and will always be remembered.
Special thanks are extended to Second St. Siloam Baptist Church and Presley-Fluker Funeral Directors. Your generosity in the form of love and support and your genuine professional empathy has made this journey of our life easier.
Marlon was in the same platoon with me in 101st Chemical Company from 2012-2013. We have good times and laugh in 3rd Platoon
